Flights

Air Djibouti, also known as Red Sea Airlines, is the flag carrier of Djibouti. They work on regional scheduled and ad hoc charter services using wet-leased aircraft out of its base at Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport. In Djibouti, there are no domestic air services. Ethiopian Airlines operates one direct flight between Addis Ababa and Djibouti, and about 4 flights daily with stopovers at Ethiopia’s Dire Dawa.

Train

The country’s first railway and the new standard gauge international railway is the Addis Ababa-Djibouti railway, which serves as the backbone of the new Ethiopian National Railway Network. This route allows travellers to enjoy the fabulous landscape, including the villages, herds of goats and sheep, camels, and monkeys. Djibouti does not have domestic train services.

Public bus

Public buses are available between the major towns and Djibouti City. These include Dikhil, Tadjoura, Obock, and Galati. The services can be infrequent and unreliable, but are a cheap way to travel around the country.

Boat

Reliable boats run twice a week between Djibouti City and Tadjoura, and between Djibouti City and Obock.
