When to Travel

The best time to visit Sudan is from January until March, July and August and October until December, which is when the country experiences the warmest temperature and the least rainfall. The higher in altitude you go, the cooler it gets; remember to pack layers if you’re staying in the Imatong Hills. Although it’s always sunny during the dry season, it can get windy too; we advise that you pack a scarf to protect your face from potential sandstorms and dust storms.

Visa

The process of getting a visa for Sudan is fairly complex and there are a few things you need to do upon arrival.  If your country or city has a Sudanese embassy, please apply for your visa prior to departure. If you are not sure of your date of entry, it would probably be better to apply for it in Egypt or Ethiopia.  You can get your visa simply within Addis Ababa within 1 working day by bringing a letter of invitation.
