Introduction

With lush forests, snow-capped peaks, and arid deserts, Ethiopia has one of the most unusual ecosystems on the planet. Thanks to this unique biodiversity Ethiopia is home to many species that are found nowhere else on Earth. There are 20 native birds including the Lammergeyer, also known as the bearded vulture, and 36 endemic mammals, including the Walia ibex, Simien Fox, Black Lion, and the Gelada baboon.

The Simien Mountains and Bale Mountains National parks are two of the best places to spot wildlife in Ethiopia. In Kenya, about a million wildebeest migrate between the Masai Mara and the Serengeti plains during the ‘Great Migration.’ This is truly one of nature’s greatest spectacles! In Djibouti our clients regularly encounter Soemmerring’s and Pelzeln’s gazelle, Grevy’s zebra, hamadryas baboon, and Hunter’s antelope. The warthog, a critically endangered species, can also be found in Day National Park here. Recently, after 50 years of obscurity, a mammal similar to elephants but smaller than a mouse has also been rediscovered in Djibouti.

Using expert guides who are highly experienced in spotting animals and birds, we enable our guests to have thrilling and diverse wildlife encounters, right across the region.
